God is love. Jesus, like his Father, is love. Being a follower of Christ is to be love as Jesus is love. So how can we be love?
A gifted musician may have music in her bones, yet before she preforms she has to practice. Practice develops the gift that she has been given. A naturally gifted athlete trains before he performs. Practice and training are necessary to develop muscle memory so that the musician or athlete can perform without the need to consciously think about everything they are doing. Practice enables us to become who we already are.
So it is with love. God has placed the seed of love in our hearts and loving as God loves takes practice. This Lent you can practice love by practicing one of these characteristics of love:
Generosity, Humility, Joy, Kindness, Patience, Peace, Poverty of Spirit, Self-Control.
Calendars with an exercise for each day are available in paper form (in the Christian Life Center) and can be uploaded to your google calendar. Prayerfully consider which quality you would like to practice this Lent and pick up a calendar.
These calendars are available as Word documents for you to download:

You are also invited to plant a seed in the Lenten display in the Christian Life Center. As God’s love grows in us, we can watch our seeds grow. After Lent you can take your plant home with you or add your plant to one of the church’s flower beds.
And remember to pick up a tree of life token to carry with you during Lent.
