Rise Against Hunger distributes meals through feeding programs operated by partner organizations in developing countries that promote education, encourage children to attend school, improve students’ health and nutrition, address gender inequalities, stimulate economic growth, fight child labor, and are part of the movement to address global issues.
St. Paul’s and St. Matt’s will be packaging 20,000 meals on March 30th from 10:00-12:00. We need approximately 75 volunteers to make this happen. We can all work together and unite to rise against Hunger.
At a meal packaging event, volunteers set up and take down packaging stations and equipment, fill bins with raw ingredients, scoop ingredients into meal bags, weigh and seal the bags, box and stack them on pallets, and load the pallets and equipment onto a truck. You will be assigned a job on the day of the event – no special skills needed. Our Rise Against Hunger event leader will provide a quick training at the beginning of the event. Some possible jobs include funnel captain, rice scooper, runner, bag weigher, box filler, and more With music playing, and the occasional sound of a gong to highlight milestones along the way, the event is high energy, rewarding and fun!
