Contemplative Worship

August 24, 9:30 a.m.

Do you ever feel like you need some peace and quiet?

In order to hear your self, in order to reach out to God, and hear God?

What if worship was like that?

More time to pray, to think, to meditate,

and rest into God’s grace?

On Sunday, August 24, we will worship a little differently.

In place of the usual scripture readings and sermon we will worship in a more contemplative, quiet, silent way. There will be times to sing, do guided reflection on God’s Word in silence, and pray.

The Spirit can come to us in a rousing praise song, but the Spirit also comes to us in quiet moments.

We also know our minds wander and get distracted.

And so we are also aware that this service might be particularly difficult for young children. When a child struggles with stillness their adults will too. For that reason, we’ll have a staffed “Sunday School” time for the kids during worship, where they can be kids and learn their own ways to quietly pray.

Peace,

Pr. Christian
